On the river Elbe, Hamburg is a major port and a global service, media, logistics and industrial hub, with headquarters of big well-known companies. Because of this it is also called the “The Gateway to the World”. The city is a tourist destination for both domestic and international visitors, ranked 18th in the world for livability in 2016. When to visit Hamburg?

The climate in Hamburg is cold and temperate. There are significant rainfalls all year round in Hamburg. The best time to visit Hamburg is the months between May and September when warm weather sweeps through the city.

The summers are warm and sometimes humid with average temperatures of 20 degrees. During the Winter months, the average temperature is only about 1 degrees.


 

Culture

Alongside New York and London, Hamburg is the third-largest musical metropolis in the world. A classic is Disneys THE KING OF THE LIONS in the amazing theater in the harbor. But also many theaters, museums and galleries as well as the Staatsoper and a colorful club scene make Hamburg a pure cultural experience.

Lübeck

The old German town of Lübeck, listed by Unesco as a World Heritage site, is called the “Venice of the Baltic”. The city is located only 70km away from Hamburg and can be reached conveniently by train, bus or car. 

Today, its appearance is still characterised by a medieval ambience and by cultural and historical attractions, such as the Holsten Gate, that hark back to Lübeck’s glorious past as a free imperial and Hanseatic city.
